The closest Ayers Rock accommodation to Uluru is at nearby Yulara (Voyages Ayers Rock Resort), about 20kms to the north of the popular attraction. There is no accommodation or camping at the rock itself or within the national park.
However, there is a decent range of accommodation at Yulara, from unpowered camp sites, shared-facilities camping, hotels, to a five-star resort.
The options for accommodation at Ayers Rock are camping, the higher-end Sails in the Desert and the Desert Gardens Hotel, the Lost Camel Hotel, the Outback Pioneer Hotel, and the Emu Walk Apartments.
The Sails in the Desert and the Desert Gardens have the best Ayers Rock accommodation. They are both fairly pricey, but guests can enjoy excellent facilities, including swimming pools and air conditioning.
While they are both well located, Sails is especially noted for its Aboriginal heritage theme.
The Emu Walk Apartments, located next to the supermarket, are a great mid-range option. It is a nice four-star facility, featuring well equipped rooms and terraces. They are especially good for families, having room enough for six people.
Other options for accommodation at Ayers Rock include the Lost Camel Hotel – a three-star lodging with swimming pool and bar area right by the shopping centre.
There is also the Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge, which has more affordable rooms, including dormitories. Many people also head here from the campground at night to eat and have a beer.
Visitors can also pitch a tent at the Ayers Rock Campground, at the Longitude 131° wilderness campground (just outside Yulara), and at the Curtin Springs Station on the road from Alice Springs. There is also a ground at Mt Ebenezer, 200kms from Uluru.
