Connellan Airport is small and easy to navigate. Around 300,000 passengers fly into the airport at Yulara each year, primarily to make the 20-minute drive to Ayers Rock. Don’t expect a huge range of amenities at Connellan Airport, but there are just enough options for food, beverages and sundries to provide for a comfortable onward journey.
Considering that the drive from Alice Springs to Uluru takes around five hours, many travellers jump at the chance to fly straight to Australia’s sacred rock.
Yulara is essentially a travel service town though the Voyages Ayers Rock Resort provides an excellent place to lay over if need be. From the airport at Yulara, there are also scenic flights to Ayers Rock via helicopter or lightweight aircraft for a truly special experience.
